COGNOSPHERE
Cognosphere continues Hollow Sun's ongoing ingenuity in re-purposing old equipment for abstract musical purposes. Here we have more old naval gear that's been carefully modified for a specific purpose...
Six oscillators/synths constructed from sampled irreglar sine, triangle, square and sawtooth waves from 40s and 50s valve/tube oscillators which can can be mixed, modulated and mangled with a multimode filter, envelopes and a multi-wave LFO. There's also a vintage noise generator in there as a seventh oscillator.
However, the thing's alive - click on the central cog and that rusty old thing will trundle into action, do a complete revolution and generate a new sound at random for you that harks back to early pioneering electronica enhanced by a comprehensive multi-FX chain...
Whatever genre of music you work in, there's a place for Cognosphere for adding texture and substance. Although Cognosphere will do pads, basses, sub-basses and leads, etc., it is most at home in obscure abstract textures with randomly generated sounds you'd never come up with yourself and the valve oscillators lend an air of genuine retro authenticity.

While Techtron covers the supersaw base - Cognosphere covers the ambient, mystic and sinister. It's way more of a one-trick pony than Techtron is, but in a world where almost all products are aimed for everybody - I consider this to be a good thing. The highlights of the plug is definitely the instant randomization feature, and in combination with the effects you can quickly create some quite bone-chilling sounds and atmospheres.

Unbelievable. The best ten quid I've spent in ages .
Thanks.

Cognosphere is simply great. With all the other MLM's, I may find it necessary to don a bobbed black wig and a 1960's twin set and pretend I'm Delia Derbyshire - all the more incredible as I have no transvestite/trans-gender leanings!!! What marvellous machines you create to make that happen !

A never ending pool of inspiration! one of the best,

This is just f**kin crazy. Ive never heard or seen a synth like this. That spinning wheel is just crazy and it sounds crazy too. I love it and will defo be getting more of your whacked out synths. Great work.
